There’s another opportunity to get your eagle eye recognized at the spiffed-up Palo Alto Art Center: Submit your best photo of Patrick Dougherty’s whimsical tree sculpture “Double Take,” which has been living and growing in front of the construction zone since January 2011. Contest entries are being accepted through Friday, with the winningest winner crowning the cover of a new on-demand book that will come out when the art center reopens in October after $7.9 worth of renovations.
Dougherty himself will choose that cover image, and other winners will be picked by Susan O’Malley, curator at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art; and Veronica Weber, our very own chief photog at the Weekly. Veronica shot this photo of Dougherty when he was in town creating the sculpture.
